With the new State Service Center (LDZ) in Salzburg, a large part of the regional administration will be consolidated in a modern building. The new building, commissioned by the State of Salzburg, will have a total area of 54,000 square meters, with approximately 40,000 square meters above ground and around 14,000 square meters underground.
The architects Burtscher Durig have designed the new office building for around 1,200 employees. The entire area between Elisabethstrasse, Fanny-von-Lehnert-Strasse, Kaiserschützenstrasse, and Karl-Wurmb-Strasse is available for the new construction, and the existing structures will be completely demolished. Vasko+Partner is responsible for the site supervision and construction coordination. Currently, the demolition is underway, and the Vasko+Partner team is overseeing the works on-site.
Although a renovation of the civic center at Salzburg Central Station was considered, it was found to be neither technically nor economically feasible. Thus, the decision was made to build the new LDZ as a central and easily accessible point of contact for all administrative matters with the government. Additionally, the construction offers an opportunity for the further development of the railway station district.
The new building will consist of ten upper floors, a ground floor, and two basements. From the 3rd floor upward, the building will be realized in a wood-hybrid construction. Construction of the new building is scheduled to commence by the end of 2023.
