Senior citizens' residential building "Haus Schmelz"
Well-kept Living
The senior citizens' residential building "Haus Schmelz" underwent a comprehensive renovation (including additions, conversions, and new constructions). The spatial program was completely redefined, and the technical building equipment was renewed. Structural, building physics, and fire protection updates were carried out, and a data center was integrated for all KWP houses. Additionally, a PVA facility was established, and the commercial kitchen was renewed.
The client for this project is the Kuratorium Wiener Pensionisten-Wohnhäuser, KWP. Vasko+Partner acted as the general consultant for project management and construction coordination. The architectural firms DI Hein and iC - Consulenten were responsible for the general planning services.
The comprehensive renovation included the adaptation and reorganization of functional areas, care and support areas, meeting and communication zones, as well as the apartments and their related infrastructure facilities. Furthermore, a two-group kindergarten of approximately 350 square meters with a separate entrance and garden area on the ground floor was integrated. The newly renovated "Haus Schmelz," now brought up to the lowest-energy standard, celebrated its reopening a few days ago. Nothing stands in the way of comfortable living on Schmelz now.
