BAWAG P.S.K. headquarters
Renovation and remodeling works of the BAWAG P.S.K. headquarters
Extensive renovation and remodeling works were carried out at the main building of the former Postal Savings Bank located at Georg Coch Platz 2, 1010 Vienna, between December 2003 and September 2005.
This building consists of two sections, constructed in the following phases: from 1904 to 1906 and from 1910 to 1912, based on the plans by Otto Wagner. The entire structure is under strict heritage protection, which had to be considered during the executed works. The building has seven main floors and two basement levels. The main floors primarily serve as office space, and a bank branch is located on the mezzanine level. The street façade is smooth and fully clad in stone and glass. The courtyard walls above the glass-covered cash hall are covered with black and white tiles. The public areas feature marble and glass-clad walls.
During the conducted renovation and remodeling works, all office areas were completely dismantled and reconstructed on all floors, while the heritage-protected spaces were meticulously restored. Additionally, air conditioning was installed throughout the premises. In the courtyard area, a covering for the historical cash hall was realized in close cooperation with the Federal Monuments Office.
