LEARNING IN EXCITING ARCHITECTURE

The Campus Wien University of Applied Sciences was designed by architects Delugan Meissl, with Vasko+Partner acting as the general planner, responsible for structural engineering, technical building equipment, building physics, as the reviewing engineer, project management for construction, planning coordination, and cost estimation basis. Situated on a 13,600 square meter open space at the "Altes Landgut" near the Verteilerkreis in Vienna's 10th district, the building boasts a total gross floor area of 37,000 square meters, making it the most modern and largest university of applied sciences building in Austria. The six-story building was designed to accommodate around 3,000 students, although due to the mixed day and evening schedules, not all students are present simultaneously. The spatial program includes two types of rooms for small-scale and large-scale uses, such as 30 lecture halls, 35 seminar rooms, a gymnasium, library, auditorium, cafeteria, kitchen, storage and technical areas, as well as an underground garage.

The architects implemented a vertical differentiation in the building structure, with the two-story base housing the large rooms. Due to the topology of the site, the university was constructed as a single-story building in the east and a two-story building in the west. Above the base, two connecting wings were placed for administrative purposes, forming a bent shape and connected by a bridge. The building's form appears as the symbolic merging of two C-shaped structures, where the flowing C-shape stands as the symbol for FH Campus Wien.
