Elementary school Veitingergasse

Green, Colorful, and Playful

The all-day guided school location at Veitingergasse 9 in the 13th district of Vienna has been expanded with an elementary school. The existing building, with a total of 14 educational rooms, was constructed in 1933 and is listed as a historical monument. The mature trees on the site were preserved, serving as natural sunshades and providing a diverse and spacious outdoor area. The cluster-oriented school expansion resulted in six additional educational rooms with ancillary spaces, a new kitchen area, and additional storage spaces. Each floor was made accessible without barriers. One of the challenges of the project was to carry out the construction within the existing school building while it was still in operation, without interfering with the old school structure.

As the client representative, WIP Wiener Infrastruktur Projekt GmbH, a company of Wien Holding, was entrusted by the Municipal Department 56 (Viennese Schools) with the project management services for the present measure. Klammer Zeleny Architects were responsible for designing the new elementary school, while Vasko+Partner handled the structural planning, building physics, and building technology up to the design phase and was tasked with the accompanying supervision.
