Construction of an apartment complex for students, postgraduates, and young professionals is scheduled to commence in 2014 at the Messecarree Nord/Bauplatz B site in the second district of Vienna. Vasko+Partner has been entrusted with structural planning, building physics, and acting as the testing engineer.

The area comprising Prater, Messe, Krieau, and Stadion is part of the "target area for Vienna's urban development." Messecarree Nord is located in close proximity to Messe Wien, the new WU campus, and the Prater. The winners of the urban planning competition were the architects Tillner & Willinger and architect Freimüller-Söllinger. The jury emphasized their independent solution, precisely tailored to the exceptional plot. The overall project – three construction projects in total – responds to this location and the linearity of the property with a flowing movement of the built structure and a generous sweep in the form of an elongated Ypsilon. Along a curved axis, attractive open spaces are created, establishing a fluid connection from Messeplatz to the park at Elderschplatz and the lake in Viertel Zwei. The "hill" over U-2 in a trough position forms an inviting entrance at Messeplatz. "Important visual relationships to the Messeturm and to and from the subway stations are taken into account or preserved in the construction to provide good orientation. The Messecarree acts as a link between national uses (exhibition center, university, hotels, Prater, Danube) and district-related uses (residential, gastronomy, social facilities). Synergies between the new and existing uses contribute positively to the life of the neighborhood. The high density of infrastructure and people flow allows Messecarree to become a vibrant, lively urban space," state the architects about their design.

Architects Tillner & Willinger ZT GmbH and Freimüller-Söllinger Architektur ZT GmbH prepared the urban planning as the basis for the subsequent architectural planning. The buildings on building plots A and B are planned by architects Tillner & Willinger ZT GmbH, while plot C is planned by Freimüller-Söllinger Architektur ZT GmbH.

The client for building plot B is Turbo Ö2 Liegenschaftsbesitzverwaltungs GmbH, and the project development and project management are undertaken by Youniq AG. The Messecarree Nord, Bauteil B, project encompasses a total floor area of 24,600 square meters across eleven floors and a basement. It will offer 569 rooms, approximately 1,200 square meters of commercial space, and 57 underground parking spaces. The construction project is expected to be completed by 2015.
