Eurogate 1
Ecological and Highest Energy Efficiency
Just a few days ago, the handover of the first phase of Eurogate, located in Vienna's 3rd district, the largest passive house settlement in Europe, took place. In total, around 2,000 apartments are being built on the former Aspanggründe on seven building plots. Heimbau is the developer of building plot 1, and the architecture is designed by Dietmar Feichtinger. The residential building comprises 71 subsidized apartments with the option to acquire ownership, provided by the City of Vienna. Vasko+Partner is responsible for on-site construction supervision as well as the entire building services engineering planning. Notably, this project required a high level of energy efficiency and ecological construction, making interdisciplinary collaboration essential.
The apartments range from two to five rooms, featuring balconies, terraces, and gardens. Openness and transparency were among the key concerns for architect Feichtinger: "The goal is to design an urban entrance to the new residential area, a transition from the established city structure to the city of the 21st century: Generous, high-quality open spaces combined with compact construction, passive house standard, and at the same time, bright sunny apartments with large balcony areas, open and inviting communal areas as semi-public meeting zones on the ground floor are the means to meet this aspiration," explains Dietmar Feichtinger.
