Geriatric center Donaustadt

Independent Yet Cared For

The new nursing home in Donaustadt was completed at the end of 2014. The renovation and expansion now provide space for 328 residents and 90 beds in the Center for Lung Diseases and Long-Term Ventilation, as well as in the Center for Coma Care. Vasko+Partner, in collaboration with Delugan Meissl Associates Architects as part of the GZD consortium, was responsible for the general planning. The project was selected by a panel of experts in July 2009 through a multi-stage EU-wide competition. The new residential and nursing home exclusively offers single and double rooms for 328 residents, along with an additional 90 special care and specialized ward beds. It is part of the comprehensive geriatric concept of the sub-division Geriatric Centers and Nursing Homes within the Vienna Hospital Association. The Center for Lung Diseases and Long-Term Ventilation, as well as the Center for Coma Care, were designed as separate extensions and are connected to the long-term care area at the entrance level. The extension and new construction also created sufficient retreat areas for residents and their families.
