Campus Seestadt Aspern
The Education Campus Seestadt Aspern
The Education Campus Seestadt Aspern is part of the announced school construction initiative by the City of Vienna, which prioritizes the integration of kindergarten and school to create optimal learning conditions at the center.
The building ensemble, designed by Thomas Zinterl in collaboration with ZT Arquitectos Lda from Lisbon, spans approximately 8600 square meters of usable space, featuring sunny terraces and a spacious garden area of around 14,000 square meters. It comprises a kindergarten with eleven groups, an all-day elementary school with seventeen classes, and eight classes specifically designed for children with special educational needs. Thomas Zinterl describes his design: "The building emerges from the landscape, continues on terraces, and forms an edge towards the district park. This creates a strong contrast between the facades oriented towards the city and the southern garden facades."
Zeljko Tomic, project management at V+P, emphasizes the greatest challenge of the new construction, which is the extremely short construction period required to meet the demanded quality standard. Another distinctive feature described by Tomic is the over 6000 square meters of customized wood-metal facade on the garden side. Vasko+Partner was responsible for the technical building equipment.
