South extension Rudolfstiftung hospital

The Rudolfstiftung Hospital has been in operation since 1974. In 2009, the Hospital Association, KAV, decided to undergo comprehensive renovation and expansion measures. The first step involves the construction of the South Extension, according to the plans by architects Delugan-Meissl, at the rear of the existing building.

The South Extension not only addresses the need for additional space but also takes into account increased safety requirements. The extension will be built as a separate fire compartment. A comprehensive HI-FOG high-pressure water mist extinguishing system and an automatic fire detection system are planned throughout the area. In addition to new patient lounges, spaces for the staff and barrier-free toilets are also planned. Additional elevators and a new fire escape staircase are intended to enhance comfort and safety for both personnel and patients. The South Extension, accessible from the main building towards the patient garden, comprises two basement levels and 18 upper levels. A helipad is planned on the top floor of the extension, which will replace the current landing site in the patient garden.
